"L" Composition

So today the 365 photos started. And I was caught unawares. I knew in the back of my mind that I needed to make some photos but I got so busy building some shelter for my puppy Bruce, bathing my other puppy Dory, and trying to figure out a safe fence for both of them to run around a little in the back yard. Then I remembered, just before dark.

So some of you might be wondering what the heck an "L" composition is. Simply put, its when objects in the picture form the letter L. It can be forwards, backwards, thick or thin, but never upside down. The L can be used to frame in the subject or it can be the subject. One of my favorite images is the painting Family of Saltimbanques, 1905, by Picasso (I know, this is suppose to be a photography blog, but Picasso is a master). He uses the people to form his L. The "L" composition is a simple tool that can be used to create very nice artworks, including photographs.
